I will not be posting missions beforehand but I can tell you that there will be at least 1 mission using the tactical objective cards.

I have a question:

Do Canoptek Wraiths armed with Particle Caster pistols receive +1 attack, they aren't listed as having a close combat weapon in their wargear or special rules. Are they assumed to automatically have a free CC weapon, so I would get the bonus attack with the pistol if so?

Yolanka

I'm not familiar with wraiths, but a pistol only counts as a single combat weapon - you need another form of one-handed, non-specialist close combat weapon to get the +1 attack.  It may not be listed as a "close combat weapon" specifically - tyranids have pairs of claws for example.

Prince of Arnheim

Well here's the thing, the main rule book says that all troops are assumed to have a basic CC weapon regardless of what their profile says or what the model is equipped with, just like in Warhammer Fantasy. I also couldn't see anything about beast units not specifically having the free weapon either.

As I understand the rule, it's more to ensure a model has a CCW so they can attack in close combat rather than just stand there and not be able to attack (which is a dumb concept).

Since Wraiths do not state having a weapon in its profile you gain that "free" CCW, but when you purchase the whip coils or the particle caster, it replaces the "free" CCW, neither say "in addition" when purchasing the upgrade.

Like Chris said as an example, for a Tyranid to gain an extra melee attack they need 2 pairs of claws, so a Hormagaunt that comes with Scything Talons does not gain an additional attack, but a Genestealer that has 1 pair of Rending Claws and (purchased) pair of Scything Talons will gain an additional attack. Again with the Genestealer example they are stated to have "Rending Claws" but it is implied that they only have 1 pair, but can be modelled with 2 pairs of rending claws because that is the way the model is, they only gain the additional attack when a pair of scything talons are purchased.

Ok understood, everyone has chimed in with a "NO" you can't do that response.

Also, can I use the Mephrit Dynasty Cohort Detatchment AND the Canoptek Harvest formation? So a detatchment that includes a formation???.....
