As someone who started off without very much knowledge about board games (except maybe magic the gathering) let me tell you that it is 100% okay to come in to a game without any knowledge about what you're going to play; one of the main points of these events is to try out new games and have fun! In other words, it never hurts to be prepared, but it's definitely not a requirement!

Of course, that's just the viewpoint from a player, I'm sure someone more official than I could phrase it better ;p
Got a request for a game, check out this link right here: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/collection/user/t_shak I'd be more than glad to bring any of these out to play.

My collection of board games:  http://www.boardgamegeek.com/collection/user/chowman13     Feel free to request something and I'll bring it out!

I agree. At least 60% of the games I've signed up for I've either never played beforehand, or only know how to play because someone at the group taught it to me. Reading the rules beforehand might help but it's not nessesary. A lot of the time it's easier to learn with someone teaching you. :D People are more than happy to teach them.
Let me know if you want to me to bring out a specific game: Game List

I've only been to one Chewsday Challenge so far (second tomorrow), but the vibe is definitely we-will-hold-your-hand-a-little-if-you-need-it.  Lots of sharing of strategy and ideas.  We are playing the game and someone will win, but there's lots of help as far as understanding how the game works.
Avidly gaming since 1972.

That all sounds good to me.  Thanks for the kind words of encouragement everyone.
Thanks,

Snikt!

Tempest

Wouldn't say 'em if they weren't true!

Side note: I just noticed Legendary has a total of four slots; there's actually room for five!

Is there any interest in playing Coup?  I don't see that it's ever been at the Chewsday Challenge.  I just got my Coup and Reformation (sequel/supplement) Kickstarter from my Montana PO box on Monday and it would be fun to share it with some of you if you've not seen it before.

I love coup and would definitely play!!

Wow! Another exciting lineup of games for this week's installment of CC. I should be there by mid-evening to join in. Will bring along a couple of print and play oddities.
