I thought that I would start a thread for people to post links to articles or news segments about our hobby getting coverage in the news. Kind of cool to have this in one place.Feel Free to add links to articles.

The Board Room Game Cafe in Halifax is off to a great start. Glad to see they are successful and that they are getting great press coverage...

Good for him.  I think that would be a really hard business model to pull off in most places, making that a pretty daring move on his part.  I've been to Snakes & Lattes in Toronto and I think one of the biggest reasons it's been such a success is that it's about 1/4 of a block away from a subway station and pretty close to downtown.  So it's easy and cheap to get there for 1,000,000+ potential customers.  I think Saskatoon's and Regina's relatively lousy public transit systems, general lack of parking, and limited potential customers would be too much of a detriment to opening up something like that here.  (Broadway Avenue in Saskatoon actually might be a pretty decent location for this type of business now that I think about it, depending on the rent.)

1st of a kind lawsuit where backers from Washington State are suing for failure to deliver on game backed on Kickstarter. May or may not be good for the games industry but it may hold the people who start campaigns more accountable to delivery on a product.

I'm glad someone is taking a stand. It's unfortunate that you have to take it on yourself if you want any sort of return in situations like this, but there are a handful that I've heard of that just never produce. I have a bit more sympathy for those projects that are just having delays or budgeted wrong and are trying to make up for it in any way possible, but those that just disappear should be addressed.

It sucks to hear about, but it's a risk you take when backing any project.
