Chaos in the Old World, 5 player, awesome as usual.

I finished second last, Conal got hosed

Tempest

I recently picked up Tzolk'in which I enjoy quite a bit, but I think the one drawback is that it feels like there's only one really good way to win, which is to get as many skulls on chichen itza as possible.
Got a request for a game, check out this link right here: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/collection/user/t_shak I'd be more than glad to bring any of these out to play.

Do the Mayans follow Khorne?

Games that have been going through the rotation in my group lately have been:

Eclipse - Probably my favourite game right now, 4X strategy with a perfect blend of Euro & Ameritrash gameplay.  So much depth yet fairly easy for new players to learn.  Great with 4 to 6 players and the expansion makes 2 and 3 player games much richer as well

Spartacus: A Game of Blood & Treachery - Enjoyable PvP screwage game, we often quote lines from the show after hitting a rival with a scheme or killing each other's gladiators.  Recently acquired the 6 player expansion and looking forward to having 2 vs. 2 primus battles and even more shifting alliances

Suburbia - Played a lot of Sim City games on Super Nintendo/PC when I was growing up, this game scratches my itch for city building.  Completely varied gameplay to win depending on the tiles in play and public/private goals

Power Grid - I operate the grid in real life so this game is a natural for me.  Really good catchup mechanic to keep everyone in the game right til the end.  Have all the expansion maps, but so far have only played the base USA & Germany

Lords of Waterdeep - Worker placement game with a Forgotten Realms setting, picked up DnDeeples to add more theme to the adventurers rather than having base cubes represent people.  Skullport expansion adds corruption to increase the amount of tough decisions to make regarding resource acquisition.

Agricola - Have played the ios version over 60 times with only the base E deck, making it easy to teach to the new players in the group.  Its been nice to physically bring it to the table and discover the cards in the other (I, K, G) decks too.  Love finding combo chains in this game.

Heroquest - An old favourite from childhood, DMing a 44 quest campaign (including expansions) for one of my best friends who is a WoW guru and loves the simplicity of this game.  Most of the quests have a nice twist to make them unique.  Will start playing Descent together after he completes his campaign.

Twilight Struggle - Easy to learn, difficult to master.  Grand strategy game with difficult choices to make almost every round, I understand why its #1 on BGG.

Age of Empires III - Worker placement, colonization game with variable discoveries and a random building and resource pool, really fun to play with 5 or 6 people

Games I own and haven't played that will hit the table soon:

Puerto Rico: Anniversary Edition
A Game of Thrones: The Board Game - Have both Dance With Dragons and the Feast for Crows expansions
War of the Ring
Sid Meier's Civilization: The Board Game w/ Fame & Fortune expansion
Risk Legacy - Very excited to start a 5 player campaign of this in the fall

My collection of board games:  http://www.boardgamegeek.com/collection/user/chowman13     Feel free to request something and I'll bring it out!

Tempest

I love Hero quest, played it a lot as a kid, but now, looking back at it, the one thing I don't like is that it only takes a 'level' or two until you're pretty much fully geared and all that; I wish it had more progression like D&D or something. Maybe that's a good thing that it doesn't, I don't know. In any case, I love Lords of Waterdeep, and Risk Legacy takes most of the bad stuff about risk and makes it fun and refreshing. I've finished two boards (15 games per board) and hope to start a new campaign of it some time.

Commando Cody

Had some guys over on Friday night for a 6 player game of Imperial 2030.  It was the first time playing for all except 2 of us.  We played a variant where everyone gets to invest whenever someone landed on "Invest" on the rondel, as opposed to only the player landing on that space.  There were also some overlooked rules that we didn't play (one of them being that all battles had to be fought as opposed to the rules which state that armies/navies are allowed to occupy the same country if both countries agree to it).

4.5 hours later and we didn't finish the game due to guys having to get home.  Seems a long playing time for a euro, although setup and rules explanation are included in that time.

I have not posted in here in a long time. Thought that I should try to get back in the habit.

Castles of Burgundy (Played twice at Angry Taco restaurant in Waskesiu)
This game has become one of Kathy's favourites. Actually, we are both fans of Stephan Feld's designs. This is a great go to game for us and it plays well with 2, 3, or 4 players. We took the game with us when we went tenting in Waskesiu. Had a couple of meals at the Angry Taco restaurant and played the game there twice. The staff were awesome, there was live music, and the game was a bit of an attraction. Fun times.

Roma (Played at campsite in Waskesiu)
This is a clever and quick two player game. Guess what, it is an early design by Stephan Feld. Go figure. Enjoyed playing this at the campsite. I think I will look into Arena (Roma II)

Mexican Train Dominoes - (Played at campsite at Waskesiu)
Kathy loves dominoes. We played a long game with a Double Twelve set at the picnic table next to a roaring campfire. Nice way to spend an evening outdoors.

Poseidon's Kingdom - (Played at ChewsDay Challenge)
Played a 4 player game of this as Lareina really wanted to give it a go. I enjoy this game for how unique it is. The Lamont brothers really do create some interesting games. :)

Timeline - (Played at home)
Introduced this to Kathy and Krystal. They both really enjoyed it. I now have another quick filler card game in my collection.

I've played a couple solo games of Robinson Crusoe: Adventure on the Cursed Island.  It's a co-op game that uses worker placement (like Agricola) as its main mechanic but (unlike Agricola) players choose their actions simultaneously and, for the most part, you don't block other players from their actions.  As a strategy game, it's a complete success; as a thematic game that delivers a narrative as you play, it's a complete success.  It's exactly what I want out of a co-op game.

Crap rulebook, though.

String Railways last Wednesday, odd little game.
