Xbox 360 Hard Drive Transfer
« on: April 12, 2011, 01:57:01 PM »
Hey you fellow Xboxers:
Just wondering if anyone has a Hard Drive transfer cable available that I can buy, beg, borrow or rent?  I finally got a bigger Hard Drive for my Xbox and would dearly love to transfer over all my games in one shot and not start over again.

I'm located in Regina and you can reach me at arcturus@accesscomm.ca

Hey man, I saw a cable at Best Buy today for $29.99 if you're still in need of one.

Thanks for the info, Xealoth!  I'm surprised they are charging that much when you can get a free one when you buy one of the new slim Xboxes.  I only paid $20 for this 60 Gb hard drive (to replace my 20 Gb) so I'm hoping to find a cheaper option.  But I'll keep this in mind for when I finally get desperate.  Only 2 Mb left on my drive, so desperation is close!

Thanks Guy for checking.  Let me know.

There is a rumored option to transfer using a USB hard drive, but I have yet to confirm this with real info from Mickeysoft.

Oh yeah I forgot about that option. If you have a 16GB or less USB flash drive you can format that and transfer the content to that and then back again! And yeah blame Microsoft for charging absurdly for absolutely every little component! Damn those 512MB memory cards!

I have a 16 Gb USB Flash drive, so I gave it a shot last night and it worked - total transfer from old to new in one shot!  Thanks for confirming - I didn't even go to the site to check on this.  It was in the "System" folder on the Xbox itself.
Now I have loads of room for new Rock Band songs (and the Dragon Age II Demo).  Rock on!

Awesome to hear man! Glad I could help. I love me some Rock Band too!
Also bonus note; you can totally leave the flash drive in the system and have an extra 16GB for storage.

That's crazy talk!  Where would I keep my roleplaying pdfs and music for work?   :lol
Seriously, though, that is a good thing to keep in mind if I start gettign to the end of this new set of storage...
