Jurassic Park was one of my favorite movies as a kid (so old ;_;) so the theme caught my attention but as soon as I saw the art and all the extras, I was hooked.  Never got around to it the first release, so very excited to have caught this one. Anyone else backed it on Kickstarter?  Played the previous version and have a winning strategy?

Just got to play Azul, and LOVE it.  An edible version sounds dangerous for the waistline ;)  Will have to check out the new version of Splendor.  Have a link?

Game Discussion / Re: What game is hitting your table?

We're playing a lot of Urbania.  It came in one of those board game subscription boxes, so I didn't really know what to expect.  Low BGG rating made me doubtful but we really enjoy it so far.  Maybe another 10-15 (wishful thinking!) plays, it might change, but for now it's one of our favorites.

Also getting in more Dominion, now that I have a couple expansions through math trades.

Out of curiousity, what sort of game accessories/extras do you buy for your games/gaming experience?

- Bought a box of custom meeples/tokens to replace the discs/cubes in Agricola
- Large custom Catan Board
- Broken Token organizer for Carcassonne - Don't know if I'd buy another.
- Custom DIY'd Small World organizer (like the foam better than wood!)
- A play mat for Machi Koro

Oh, also lots and lots of dice & coins that I can sub into whatever game I need to.  I'm a major fan of random dice.

I also love thematic additions, like the meeples, because those discs/cubes are just too abstract for me.

How else does everyone spiff up their game experience?

Just curious if there are any D&D 5E groups in Saskatoon that are welcoming to a new player? Specifically one run by the ladies? Nothing against the guys, I just would like to make some more nerdy female friends.

We've been playing a lot of Dominion, and Forbidden Island lately.  Trying to work my way through 25 plays of Dominion before we crack open Dominion Seaside.  Not going to be much longer :)

Through the Desert, Ticket to Ride, Catan, Carcassonne, Kingdom Builder, Small World 2 (not sure why the 2...).  I also like the Qwirkle knockoff "Sixes".

Board Game Stats is a good one to keep track of plays, wins, points, etc for multiple players.

We seem to be playing a lot of Hanabi recently; I think it's actually made our group better in a lot of ways; people are forced to listen to each other now ;)   Also great for working on your memory skills.

Also brought out Kill Dr. Lucky again; just waiting for the anniversary edition so I can get my own copy (Game budget you say? What's that?).  Always love this one because of the confrontation between players when someone confronts the doctor.

Have also brought out Carcassonne a few times, and reminded myself why I bought it in the first place.  It's just a nice, simple euro without too many rules.  Going to be teaching this to my 10 year old niece pretty soon.  I think it will be a hit for her.

Going to be bringing out Dominion at the next game night.  Kind of nervous because I love games with expansions and expansions cost money....

My wife and I play a lot of Machi Koro. The two expansions add a lot to the game.

Good to know! I just ordered them, along with a swanky playmat, so I'm hoping to get a lot of plays from the game.

We recently did a run through of Niagara which was pretty simple to learn (I can see it being a great game for kids!!) but not as much fun as I had hoped.  Another play, and we'll see.  Sometimes it takes 2-3 plays to get into it.  If not, it'll go into my trade pile.

We also did a 2nd run of Black Fleet, and while I love it, I found that the revenge aspect to be frustrating with players who like confrontation; it sucks when you're ganged up on by everyone else at the table.  To avoid frustration I might consider making it a house rule that the same player cannot be attacked multiple times in a row (but worry this might handicap the game too much).  Will wait and see.

We tried the Deadlock Escape Shanghai Lockup room here in Saskatoon.  Not going to lie, was tons of fun but pretty darn challenging!  Will have to try out the Regina rooms next time I'm in town.
