Saskatchewan has a growing community of board game and role playing game designers. PGX supports local game designers showcase their games by hosting a "Game Designer's Corner" in which there will be demos and play tests of local designs featured throughout the day. Contact Derek (lifeofturner) for more details!

We will have three designers at this PGX, two of whom will be new to the event!

GAME: The New World Order
DESIGNER: Ferne Hebig
PLAYERS: 4
START TIME: 10 AM (and 4 PM if there is interest)
DURATION: 60-90 mins

This is a prototype of an unpublished game where we will be testing a few new changes. It takes place in a post apocalyptic world where aliens failed in an invasion and all are forced to live together. Some get along, some not much. Will you let the cynical and self-serving apocalypse effect guide you or will your faith in humanity prevail?

GAME: SPL Battlegrounds: The Legends Edition
DESIGNER: Ferne Hebig
PLAYERS: 6
START TIME: 1 PM
DURATION: 60-90 mins

This is a car audio-themed card game. The objective of this game is to have a blast building the sound systems of car audio competition legends using the speaker and amplifier cards in your hand, or that you you draw, and the legend/class build cards cards you buy. The challenge is to be the one at the end of the hand and ultimately, the end of the game, who has racked up the highest score. This is a self-published game for demo playing, while ‘finished’ feedback is still welcome. Facebook @splbattlegrounds for more info and link to walkthrough video, etc.

GAME: Divided Loyalties
DESIGNER: Ozzy Beaven
PLAYERS: 4
START TIME: 10 AM and 1 PM
DURATION: 90-120 mins

Divided Loyalties is a modular tabletop strategy fantasy wargame that combines elements from preconstructed deck building games and traditional tabletop war games. This is partway through its development, so feedback is very welcome.

GAME: Galactic Payload (https://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/231473/galactic-payload)
DESIGNER: Nathan Ottenson
PLAYERS: 4
START TIME: 11 AM and 2 PM
DURATION: 120 mins.

Galactic Payload has been featured at past PGX and Chewsday Challenges, but designer Nathan Ottenson continues to make changes to the game, including an untested "Last Ship Standing" variant. Repeat play testers are welcome!

Dragon Ball Super players will teach the game to new players starting at 12pm.  Existing players of Dragon Ball Super are encouraged to bring their decks and challenge other players in open play. If there is enough interest a mini tournament will be held. If you are coming to play Dragon Ball Super and would like a tournament please respond to this thread so we can gauge interest.

ComicReaders Downtown will provide sample decks to new players. Each player will also receive something from the Dragon Ball Super goodies bag (while supplies last).

ORGANIZER: Brad Joyce
START TIME: Quest 1: 12:00pm; Quest 2: 1:10pm; Quest 3: 2:20pm; Quest 4: 3:30pm; Quest 5: 4:40pm

PLAYERS: 4 - 7 players per Quest
DETAILS:
A New Era of Exploration

The Starfinder Society Roleplaying Guild is a worldwide science fantasy campaign that puts you in the role of an agent of the Starfinder Society. The gods have mysteriously spirited Golarion away to an unknown location and refuse to answer questions about it. In its place, the cultures of that world have evolved and spread throughout the solar system, especially to a vast space platform called Absalom Station. Gifted access to a hyperspace dimension by an ascended AI deity, the residents of the system suddenly find themselves with the ability to travel faster than light, and the race is on to explore and colonize potentially millions of worlds. But there are horrors out there in the darkness…

Play in the Starfinder Society Roleplaying Guild is organized into Seasons, throughout which the actions and acheivements of you and your fellow Society agents create an ongoing storyline. Each season takes place across scenarios set in a variety of exotic locales across the world of Starfinder.

Year of Scoured Stars

The Starfinder Society is on the brink of ruin, having had to resort of mercenaries to maintain their hold on claimed planetoids, stellar regions, and archeological sites. After training to join a new cadre of Starfinders, it is up to you as a member of the Starfinder Society to help restore the organization. The Starfinder Society, with memories of the Scoured Stars incident still fresh, embarks on the quest to rebuild and discover the truth of what happened in the inaugural season: Year of Scoured Stars!

Starfinder Society Roleplaying Guild Quest: Into the Unknown

A series of five Starfinder Quests designed for 1st-level characters.

When a mysterious visitor comes to Absalom Station selling items belonging to a lost Starfinder, the Starfinder Society takes note. The PCs are dispatched to discover out how the recent arrival found these items, leading them on a series of quests beyond the Pact Worlds and into the stars.

"Into the Unknown" includes five, 1-hour adventures that take the PCs from exploring Absalom Station, to partaking in starship combat, to exploring an alien world. The fifth adventure in the series provides a stunning conclusion that takes the PC's previous accomplishments into account for a climactic final showdown against an enemy starship.

Can a guy get into a tournament last minute if there are still openings?
It's probably best to ensure your spot by booking early (it also helps us plan if we know proper numbers), but yes, you can sign up for the tournament at any time - even on the day of the PGX - if there are openings.

Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition will also be at Prairie Game Expo! Berny is a new DM and he is looking to try out D&D with other hobbyists new to the system. (Experienced players are certainly welcome, too, but keep in mind these sessions are designed with new players in mind.)

Start time: 1pm
Duration: 1.5 - 2 hrs
How many players: 2-4
What to bring: good attitude, rest will be provided, but you are welcome to bring if you have: dice, pen & paper, small miniature character as your avatar
Description: First-time DM looking for experience with other first time players, or veterans who don't mind playing with those who are new.
This is a 1st level, short Dungeons & Dragons adventure where we will have fun, kill stuff, learn a bit about D&D together, and hopefully make friends. Take on the role of a longsword-wielding folk hero to fight evil, or a powerful sorceress who can shoot ice from her fingertips, or help out your allies with cosmic healing as a dwarven cleric!
No experience required. Ages 16+ unless otherwise permitted. You will not be required or expected to act out or use a dwarven voice, but you are most welcome to, as this is a role-playing game.
Using pre-made classic characters we should be able to jump into the game fairly quickly after a bit of tutorial of really basic, simple 5th edition rules. Note that this is not a serious game where every rule will be abided by. The goal is to have fun and learn how to DM/play D&D.

Anyone up for a game of Acquire at the opening bell at 9:00?  Lori has to man the registration table for an hour so there will be time to get a play in.

Maximum 5 players, so room for 4 more.  Need 3 to play.

Track me down :)

Thanks to everyone that was involved in organizing, volunteering, teaching games, etc.

I had a great time playing so many different games.  My favourite of the day was Dinosaur Island (thanks Lawrence, Jill, and Mike).  I'm sorry to have missed out on Decrypto and hope to get a game in of that soon.
