Catan Travel Edition Tournament - age 12 and under

I'm new to setting things up on here, but I'm planning to bring Milestone School's junior board games club down for a travel edition settlers of Catan tournament for 12 players at 1 p.m. We'll all be coming in from out of town, so I'm hoping I can reserve space for at least eight of my students when I run the tourney.

Any advice or help setting this up on here would be appreciated. As would prize support, natch! :)

Glad to see you're bringing the board game club in! Are you looking for other sign-ups or will you have everyone you need for the tournament?

Hi Alex,

Glad to see you're bringing the board game club in! Are you looking for other sign-ups or will you have everyone you need for the tournament?

Brad

So far, it looks packed, but that's before eager participants have made their driving arrangements. I'll post again if I find out there's empty spaces.

PGX SCHEDULE - Visual format - ATTACHED

At the last PGX I found it useful for planning my game playing to arrange the PGX schedule in visual format.  I've done the same thing for this PGX.  Since others might find this useful as well I've attached my version of the PGX schedule with this post.

I'll be keeping this up-to-date as changes/additions to the schedule are announced.  If others are interested I can post updated versions here as well.

GAME: Once Upon A Time
TEACHER: Thomas Boxall
START TIME: 10:00
DURATION: 60

I would like to run a game of Once Upon A Time as a Creative Thinking exercise.  For those that have never played Once Upon A Time, it is a storytelling card game.  Players collaboratively try to create a story tale using the cards in their hands.  The first play to play their ending card wins the game.  This is a great game for future GameMasters/DungeonMasters to play as it trains you to think on your feet, and adapt to changes in your story.

All skill levels are welcome, the goal of the game is to have fun.

Either. I have played it twice, so I think I could teach it myself after running through the rulebook. But if someone wants to teach it, I'd be happy to let them.  :D

Intruders have made their way onto your ship, and their goal is total destruction! More than twenty bombs have been detected onboard, and the countdown has begun. Your elite Bomb Defusal Team (BDT) has been called upon to neutralize the threat. Does your team have what it takes to work through the intricacies of the bombs and defuse them all in time?

FUSE is a real-time co-operative game that employs 25 dice and 65 cards. Each game is set to a ten-minute timer, and players must work together in that ten minutes to defuse all of the bombs. Each bomb is represented by a card which needs a certain combination of dice in order to defuse it. A player will draw a number of dice equal to the number of players out of a bag and roll them. Players must then decide who will get which dice, but each player must take one and only one.

It's a simple task: maximize the potential of your dice among all of the players. The problem is that you have only ten minutes, and there are more than twenty bombs on your ship. You don't have time to think through every option. You barely have time to yell at Grandma as she reaches for that red die you need. This game will self-destruct in ten minutes...

I've attached an updated version of the PGX schedule (visual format) that I posted earlier.

I'm curious about Once Upon A Time....would it be over in time for the Legendary tournament?

The game should be over by 11.  I have a Game Brainstorm session at 11 either way.

Is someone willing to teach or just bring a copy of original Pandemic for me and a friend to play?

Are you looking for a teacher or just a copy?
Either. I have played it twice, so I think I could teach it myself after running through the rulebook. But if someone wants to teach it, I'd be happy to let them.  :D

I will be there at 9am and I will bring along Pandemic.  Unfortunately I won't be able to teach as I am registered for a couple of the tournaments but you are welcome to use it whenever you like.

Hi-lite: Great games, great company.
Lo-lite: losing not one but TWO games (including a Tournament finale) each by a single point... AARGH!

Interesting fact:
Back in October at PGX, the tournament (Dixit & Dominion) winners  were... Jill & Scott.
Today the tournament (Legendary & King of New York) winners were... Jill & Scott!
