GAME: Macao
TEACHER: Tyler "Tempest"
START TIME: 8:30
DURATION: 60-90 minutes with teaching
# OF PLAYERS: 2-4
URL: Macao (https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/55670/macao)
For interested players, Macao is a game about delivering goods and gaining influence as a merchant. Mechanically, it's a strategic dice management game all about pre-planning. Someone rolls a set of dice which represent various actions/resources you can use on later turns. The trick is managing them so you have actions to do every turn (you lose points if you can't) and also making sure you can play cards that you acquire every turn. Once you get the hang of things, the 12 rounds of play go by pretty quick. I've found that the strategy is a bit tricky, but mechanically it's a very simple and fun game. It takes only a turn or two to really get a hang of the flow of the game. I recommend this game to players of any skill level.

This game uses some technology to make it work, it requires a state of the art record player. So this game isn't totally analog.
Derek (lifeofturner) was looking for Cacao, not Macao so I'm not sure if he wanted to be on the list for Macao.
I will play At the Post and Macao :excited

I was wondering about that, but didn't say anything because I really like Macao. :neener
Unrelated, I was also wondering if it'd be possible to announce our X-Wing League along with the normal announcements?
I've had a change of plans for next week so I'll be coming out. Please sign me up for A Study In Emerald.
Please sign me up for Macao.
I'll play study in emerald

I can bring it on Saturday or next week. Thomas (prisonmonkeys) has it too.
We do have Macao, but it's a version with Dutch text and there's a lot of text on the character cards, so it would not be ideal. Glad it's already posted. We'll have to skip this time anyway.
So back to my original request...anyone care to bring Cacao or one of the other games I mentioned? :P
I can bring it to PGX or CC Feb 2nd.

I'm going to bring out the (relatively) new dice worker-placement game The Voyages of Marco Polo on Tuesday. Players are Marco Polo's associates, traversing the eastern world in search of trading to complete contracts, accumulate wealth and resources and ultimately have the most victory points. It has several twists on other dice worker-placement games. While cities remain in the same places (and there are goals associated with setting up trading posts), their benefits are completely modular meaning they'll be different every game. Plus each player gets a character with a power so good you'd think it would break the game - but all of the powers are like that (and all of them are different).
This game is a little more complex than most other dice worker-placement games. Anyone who likes games a little heavier than medium weight is welcome to give it a try. It'll be a teaching game which will add a little bit of time but it should still be around or just over the 2 hour mark. It's a great game with a lot of interesting play

Josh, I'm going to list you as a spare for that game but leave the last spot open. We're cautious about booking people into games that are scheduled to start before a previous game is scheduled to finish (the first is scheduled to end at 10:30 and the second starts at 10:00).
Sorry, I unfortunately need to drop out of Posts and King's Forge.
I'd like to sign up for dead of winter. Thanks.
