Malifaux
THE GAMEMalifaux is a character-driven 32mm tabletop miniatures game. Players collect, build, and paint models representing the denizens of Malifaux, pitting these models against one another in groups called Crews for control of the precious resource known as Soulstones.
A Crew can contain several different types of models depending on how a player constructs it. How well a Crew carries out its leader's Strategy and Schemes determines whether or not it will emerge victorious in an Encounter with an enemy Crew. Strategies represent the Crew's main path to victory, while Schemes are simpler alternate routes to achieve the leader's goals.
Malifaux players use decks of cards called Fate Decks to resolve game events such as attacking and spell-casting. Players can manipulate the cards they play to alter the Duel's outcome. It takes a shrewd leader to effectively utilize a Crew's resources, ensuring he or she always has ready the cards needed to Cheat Fate.
THE TIMETable space will be available from 12pm - 4pm. Visit for a demo.
If you already play Malifaux and would like to play the game at Prairie Game Expo please respond to this post so other players know you are coming.

Flash Point: Fire Rescue; "Small Town, Big Fire"
THE GAMEFlash Point: Fire Rescue is a cooperative game of fire rescue. "Small Town, Big Fire" is a special gaming event where players coordinate their efforts to put out fires occurring on six separate game boards. The unthinkable has happened. A fire has broken out in a mechanic's garage located in a small town. The fire quickly spread to nearby residences. There are not enough resources-- fire engines, ambulances, ladders-- or specialized firefighters (Hazmat Specialists, Imaging Technicians, Rescue Dogs, Paramedics, etc) to quickly and efficiently tend to each fire. Tough decisions will have to be made. Which firefighters will tend to which fires. When and where will rescue vehicles be needed. These are the things the players will have to decide while actively fighting the fires and trying to rescue people trapped inside the burning buildings.
Players will be randomly assigned a Firefighter role. The players will see the state of the fire in each building, including locations of hazardous materials and potential victims. As a group, they must decide which firefighters will go to which building, and where the limited number of fire engines and ambulances will be assigned. There will be a maximum of 4 players per board. Once at their boards, the game begins, with each team acting independently to rescue 7 victims and "win" their board. If this is accomplished, the firefighters can be reassigned to buildings still on fire.
Fire engines can move from board to board at a cost of action points, but must be driven by a firefighter (player) who will now join the fight at the new location. Ambulances can be moved from board to board, too, at a cost, but don't need to be driven by a firefighter. Also available for use is an Air Ambulance, a brand new game mechanic cooked up by local gamer, Bryce Robinson.
The collective goal is to "win" as many boards as a possible. Each team will need to coordinate their efforts on their own board, but the wider group will have to coordinate as well when fire engines and ambulances are needed.
"Small Town, Big Fire" was cooked up by ComicReaders' Chad Boudreau with generous assistance from Bryce Robinson and Chad's two sons.
THE TIME12pm
Estimated duration of 120 minutes
PARTICIPANTSThere is room for 24 players.
COMPONENTS REQUIREDSeveral copies of Flash Point: Fire Rescue are required for this to work. Fire, firefighters, and other tokes, etc from the base game will be used on other game boards. All components will be returned to their rightful owners. If you can provide something listed below please respond to this post.
Flash Point: Fire Rescue (base game) x 4: Chad (1); Bryce (2)
2nd Story Expansion x 1: Chad (1)
Extreme Danger Expansion x 1: Chad (1)
Urban Structures x 1: Chad (1)
We are in need for 1 more base game.
I rarely get the chance to play anymore, so I'd love to schedule a game of Agricola for about 9:30, room for up to five. If there are new players, I am okay with teaching. If veterans all sign up, I'd love to do the 'moors' expansion and/or one of the region-specific ones. (I have all that I'm aware of, I think) To be safe, I'd give it about two hours.
I'll be bringing other stuff, but I'll probably play the rest of the day by ear, I think.
I'm in for flashpoint
I'm hoping to get out to a PGX finally and would like to jump into Agricola. Haven't played Farmers of the Moor in a long time so would be cool if that came out as well.
3 6 9 RPG
THE GAMELocal game designer Kelly Bjorndalen will be on-hand to talk about and demo his 3 6 9 Role-Playing Game.
3 6 9 is a fast-paced dungeon crawling adventure. It uses a challenging social role-playing system and a comprehensive item creation component to create a self-contained narrative.
The 3 6 9 RPG was born out of a desire to create a game completely void of a gamemaster role. The Narrator engages with the players through a more rigid rule set that relaxes the narrative responsibility while also making it easier for the Narrator to keep track of the pertinent mechanical information.
369 also integrates an effective social combat system that challenges players to create characters who may not rely on combat prowess to contribute to the group. The integrated social system requires characters to have a moderate level of social functionality and challenges players to view role-play as an essential part of the game.
The item creation mechanics allow players and gamemasters to create simple or complex items and institutions that have tangible in game mechanical effects. Players will rely on item crafting to repair and create goods for their use and can even set about creating powerful institutions with their craft skills. The creation of institutions is a powerful narrative device that can be used by both the players and Narrators to provide motivation for campaigns.
The world creation aspect of the game is a communal process. Creating the world map is mechanically assisted and is exclusive to no single player at the table. The Narrator role is mechanically integrated to reign in the unbridled power of traditional gamemaster roles and enforce a sense that the Narrator is one of the players. By adhering to a stricter rule set, the Narrator has the option of genuinely working with the players to create a mutually pleasing world or to unabashedly embrace competition without fretting over an imbalance in the power structure.
THE TIME10am
Estimated duration of 120 minutes
2pm
Estimated duration of 120 minutes.
PARTICIPANTSThere is room 4 players per session.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONKelly Bjorndalen is a local game designer.
I'd like to alternatively sign up for the 40k tournament instead.
i'd be up for the 10 am 3,6,9
Can I sign up for the 40k tournament
As per request, I'll also be bringing out X-Com, not sure what time yet, but I'll have it with me.
I'll play 1830
Can u sign me up for Agricola and 1830 railways and robber barons
You can sign me up for 1830
I'm interested in the Warmahordes event but have a couple of questions.
1) Is there a painting requirement? Asking because it limits my army choices
2) Do the other players mind putting up with the old guy who might need a few rules refreshers? Asking becuase I haven't played a game since moving to SK (~14 month hiatus) so I'll be a bit rusty in terms of game play and knowledge of newer models.
If the above questions pose no issues, I'd love to play.
I'm also willing to take requests on which army to bring (I don't collect Khador or Legion, and have a limited selection of Cryx models) but otherwise I can field any other faction.
So if people have wanted to get games in against a particular faction, let me know.
Best
The Alphadork (Kevin)
Alphadork: There is not a painting requirement. You do not need to be fully painted to play.
Knowing what I know about the Warmachine players, I would say you'd be a welcome gamer even if you need some refreshers.
@Chad
Great - then sign me up.
Sign me up for Flash Point at noon! Sounds like a lot of fun!

PLAYERS: up to 5 players

Deck of Many Dungeons is a Fantasy Dungeon RPG / Card game.
The Deck of Many Dungeons is a role-playing game designed to require little-to-no preparation in order to play. It's heavy on the combat elements and light on the math.
The card-based game-play allows for quick character creation and means rarely having to pause mid-game to look up rules or monster stats, while still allowing a great deal of customization and progression. If you play with the same group over multiple sessions, you can level up and pick out new abilities, or find cool gear. It's also easy to create random encounters or download adventures, so you can all take turns being the GM.
One more announcement for Prairie Game Expo this evening is that Star Wars Armada will be there starting at 5pm. You can watch a demo of the game. There is also talk of a tournament taking place but we're just waiting for confirmation on the final details before we post that.
I'm hoping to have my small crews ready for Infinity and Malifaux.
See you there.
I'm definitely interested in the dicemasters stuff, wouldn't mind going over a few things shortly before hand to make sure what I bring will be legit and stuff.
Looks like I will be running Core Worlds around 10am. So far it is me and lifeofturner. Game is best with 3-4, so a couple of spots open.
Can you sign me up for Flashpoint? I have been interested in trying this game for a while now.
This is a quick update to let you know the 40K Tournament has been cancelled due to a low number of players.
We only had 2 players sign-up.
If you were itching to play miniatures at Prairie Game Expo you might consider taking part in the Malifaux and Infinity demonstrations occurring throughout the day. Warmachine / Hordes will also be in attendance if you want to check that out.
ComicReaders Downtown does have a League on the go for Warhammer 40K. If any members of that League wish to play a League game at Prairie Game Expo you are welcome to do so. Games played at Prairie Game Expo count as "in-store" games. Let us know in advance by responding to this post if you wish to play a League game (or casual game) at Prairie Game Expo and we will reserve you a table. If you casually drop-in, we cannot guarantee you gaming space, access to terrain, etc.

I'm an avid drinker of loose leaf tea. I'm an avid player of board games. These hobbies, of course, cannot meet. Or can they?
It turns out they can. Lori and I have already brought out Elevenses and Darjeeling. This is my third tea-related game, and what a game. Full of interesting strategy and mechanics, it's effectively an auction-based worker placement game with some really interesting uniquenesses. Check out the BGG link for more.
Lori and I played the game last weekend and then took it to Chewsday Challenge last night and we had a blast. There seem to be a lot of potential winning strategies in the game, and it's a true eurogame - no luck at all other than the opening turn order. There is always a lot to think about, and even when other players are going, you'll be paying attention, trying to figure out what will be left for you to do when the turn comes around to you again.
Jim any chance u can start yunnan earlier because I'm signed up for 1830 at 3 and I wanted to try yunnan but I wasn't able to play on tuesday

The more the merrier!
My sister, niece and nephew are going to come out for part of the afternoon and it will be their first time as well. It should be a great warm-up to the 24 hour event next month.
I would like to Elritch horror, at 9:30.
I'll join in Eldritch horror at 930

How many players can the game hold?
Also, Would you mind if someone arrived a little late?
RockBane, I believe the D&D group is a closed event and isn't accepting more players. There is lots of other games going on though.

Las Vegas
Cockroach Poker
King of Tokyo
Catan
Carcassonne
Games I'll have set up all day and can be taught in 2 minutes:
Can't Stop
Tumblin' Dice (mini)
Coconuts
I'll be bringing out the pirate racing battle game: Jamaica
10 am start
45-60 minutes

Easy to learn, fun to play!

I was curious and figured it didn't hurt to ask.
I'm bringing Fun Farm to set-up in the morning if people are looking for something to wake them up.
My sons and I will be playing Catacombs in the morning, too.
I'm probably gonna be there in the afternoon, and I'll be bringing X-Com, Formula D (Hopefully we can get enough people interested in a race) and a currently undecided 3rd game...
I had a blast. Played some 40k and said hello to some good people.

I played a lot of games on Saturday. My two highlights are playing in the Flash Point town on fire scenario, and playing Monster Factory. I think Monster Factory will be my two-year old daughter's first board game. Can't wait to play it with her!
