Warhammer and Warhammer 40K is a table-top miniatures game produced by Games Workshop. Warhammer is the fantasy based game. 40K is the science fiction based game. In either, players select an army, assemble and paint their miniatures, and then go toe-to-toe in against another player. Game styles and length varies, but regardless of the armies and style of play, Warhammer and Warhammer 40K is a very attractive game when on the table.

It takes a shrewd leader to effectively utilize a Crew's resources, ensuring he or she always has ready the cards needed to Cheat Fate.
Mike Nielsen will be at Prairie Game Expo from 12pm - 4pm to demonstrate and play Malifaux, a miniatures game by Wyrd Miniatures. You are not required to have Malifaux miniatures of your own to take part. New players or the casual curious are welcome. If you already play Malifaux, feel free to bring your miniatures and engage Mike or others in a game. Pre-registration is not required.

Hey Don, sorry for the delay. I just wanted to talk to Lareina and Yolanka before we planned anything. If you're up for running a Warhammer tournament we'd be able to provide you with as many tables as you like. We'd like to do Fantasy in the early part of the event and then 40K to follow it. Feel free to PM me or post here with what you want to do.
X-Wing: 100 Point Tournament
DESCRIPTION
Star Wars: X-Wing Miniatures Game is a tactical ship-to-ship combat game in which players take control of powerful Rebel X-wings and nimble Imperial TIE fighters, facing them against each other in fast-paced space combat. Featuring stunningly detailed and painted miniatures, the X-Wing Miniatures Game recreates exciting Star Wars space combat throughout its several included scenarios. Select your crew, plan your maneuvers, and complete your mission!
At Prairie Game Expo on January 17, 2015, ComicReaders will be running a 100 point tournament.
Squad
- The total point value of your squad (ship, pilot, upgrades, etc) cannot exceed 100 points.
- You must chose a faction. Rebel or Imperials. You cannot mix factions to build your squad.
- A squad list must be submitted when you arrive for the event. That means, no squad building when you arrive. Have your squad built in advance. The tournament organizer will review your squad.
- Bring the required components from the X-Wing core set-- maneuver dials, range rulers, asteroids, damage cards, etc.
Game Play
- Players are guaranteed 3 games.
- There is 75 minute time limit per game. 15 minutes for set-up / deployment. 60 minutes for the game.
- The number of matches played is determined by the number of players.
- We will run multiple pods. If we get 16 players, for example, we will have two pods of 8 players. The top player from each pod will play in the final.
- Doing separate pods means each pod will play 3 games. So basically 4 hours of gaming.
- A rule book will be on hand for reference and event organizers will be on hand for rule clarifications. If need be, the final say on rules will be provided by ComicReaders' Chad Boudreau, who plays X-Wing but is not participating in the event.
- Official Fantasy Flight Tournament rules can be found at http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/x-wing/support/faq/X-Wing-Tournament-Rules.pdf (http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/x-wing/support/faq/X-Wing-Tournament-Rules.pdf)
Points
Match Win = 5 tournament points
Modified Match Win = 3 tournament points
Draw = 1 tournament point
Match Loss = 0 tournament points
Prizes
There is a participation prize for everyone.
The winner of the tournament will receive a Prairie Game Expo tournament winner pint glass (with minimum 6-person entry)

QuoteYou can put me in for a shift at the table, preferably earlier in the day.

I've also created a separate thread for volunteer scheduling.
| THE THING
Start your Prairie Game eXpo experience with a social game developed by ComicReaders' Chad Boudreau. The Thing has been revised based on feedback from players who took part in its debut at 24 Hours to Play With Your Food.
Based on John Carpenter's The Thing motion picture, you must use your guile and powers of deduction to determine who among you is no longer human. Every "night", you will choose a room to stay in, but you must choose wisely because if you are in a room with a Thing you might be attacked. And when attacked you don't die-- you become a Thing and must now prey upon the remaining human players.
Every "morning', you vote to determine who among you will take a blood test. A blood test will reveal a Thing so it can be destroyed.
Through card play players can: Intimidate other players to keep them out of a room; Persuade players that you are human so you don't need to take a blood test; use a Fire Axe to clear a room; use a Flamethrower to destroy a Thing; and more. Useful cards are discarded when played so you'll also need to use your wits to prove your innocence or hide your evil intentions.
"This thing doesn't want to show itself, it wants to hide inside an imitation. It'll fight if it has to, but it's vulnerable out in the open. If it takes us over, then it has no more enemies, nobody left to kill it. And then it's won."
9:30am start time. 90 minute play-time. 16 player max. 12 player minimum.

We'll be running a Carcassonne tournament at noon -- details up soon. If you want to run a DC Deck Building tournament at 4 or later that would work. I can supply a copy. If we hit 8 people I can supply a PGX mug as a prize. PM if you have any special requests.
If Matt is willing to run the double map for Railways of the world, I would be in for that, however, if not, then I would like to run
Railways of the World: Railways Through Time at 6 pm
It plays 2 - 6 and would most likely take 2 hours.
Cool, looks like we're good to go on hosting a DC Deckbuilding tourney at 4. We may need to borrow two copies (We have access to two already) if we get more than 10 players; there will be room for a maximum of 16 people.
Also, I'd like to participate in the Carcassonne tourney.

When: Saturday January 17, 2015
Start: 12:00 pm - 4:00pm
Malifaux is a character-driven 32mm tabletop miniatures game. Players collect, build, and paint models representing the denizens of Malifaux, pitting these models against one another in groups called Crews for control of the precious resource known as Soulstones.
A Crew can contain several different types of models depending on how a player constructs it. Masters can manipulate the course of events in the world around them, changing their own Fates through their control or theft of Soulstones. A variety of fantastic and frightening beings, collectively known as Minions, serve the Master as fodder in his or her machinations. In addition, Henchmen can lead specialized Crews in their Master's absence, or serve their Master directly as a member of a Crew. Masters and Henchmen are also supported by Totems, extensions of their magical abilities which increase their spellcasting range and provide additional aid in an Encounter. Lastly, each Master can transform itself into a powerful Avatar, representing a specific aspect of their personality.
How well a Crew carries out its leader's Strategy and Schemes determines whether or not it will emerge victorious in an Encounter with an enemy Crew. Strategies represent the Crew's main path to victory, while Schemes are simpler alternate routes to achieve the leader's goals.
Malifaux players use decks of cards called Fate Decks to resolve game events such as attacking and spell-casting. Players can manipulate the cards they play to alter the Duel's outcome. It takes a shrewd leader to effectively utilize a Crew's resources, ensuring he or she always has ready the cards needed to Cheat Fate.
Mike Nielsen will be on hand to demo and play Malifaux. Previous experience is not required. You do not need to bring miniatures either. Mike will have miniatures on hand for new players.

Warmachine / Hordes 50 Point Steamroller Tournament
RULES
This will be a 50 point Steamroller tournament. Warmachine, Hordes, let's mangle some metal!
- 50 Point lists, make two of 'em. As usual no duplication of Character units and solos allowed.
- Players can bring a Mercenary/Minion list provided it would work for the main faction list they bring. e.g. a player could bring a Khador list and a Four Star Syndicate one. Or a Circle Orboros and a Thornfall Alliance one. This was so people who like Mercs and Minions are less hosed.
- Steamroller rules and scenarios.
- 3 Rounds.
- Tables will be preset, move the terrain and you will be injured.
- Steamroller rules are here so you can practice and junk. http://files.privateerpress.com/.../sr2014/Steamroller2014.pdf (http://files.privateerpress.com/.../sr2014/Steamroller2014.pdf)
- Wheaton's Law in effect at all times.

Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition Expeditions
RULES
The D&D Adventurers League is an ongoing official organized play campaign for Dungeons & Dragons. It uses the fifth edition of the Dungeons & Dragons rules, and features the Forgotten Realms setting. You can play D&D Adventurers League games at any place that features adventures bearing the D&D Adventurers League logo. Most D&D Adventurers League games are public, in-person play events. Typical venues for these events are game and hobby stores, conventions, and public-accessible game day events such as Prairie Game Expo.
Supported by ComicReaders Downtown, Kevin Scarth, a Dungeon Master with 20+ years of experience, is bringing D&D 5th Edition Adventurers League to Prairie Game Expo in the form of D&D Expeditions. This style of play is great for new and experienced players. You don't even have to bring a character!

The DM will be bringing some pre-made characters but if you want to bring a 1st level character you are able to do so. But no higher level characters. The Expeditions being run are not geared for higher level characters.
Please sign myself, Joran and Patrick up for the Carcassonne tournament :)
Cool, thanks Chad. There's a few different 1st level classes I want to try out.

That's really awesome news! If you're a collector, you'll definitely want to get involved, since Martian Manhunter is kinda hard to come by now! If you haven't played the DC Deckbuilding game yet, I highly recommend it, whether or not you're familiar with the genre. It's a great entry point into deckbuilding and is extremely easy to learn and play. For a quick summary of the game, please feel free to check out my BGG review on it: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/1056378/dc-comics-deck-building-game-my-first-review (provided nobody minds me shamelessly plugging myself ;p )

Just found out about the Warhammer Fantasy tournament. If anyone bails out I would take their spot.
Hey, Warmahordes fans. Here's a gander at the 24" x 36" digital print that will be our tournament prize to kick things off.

Get ready to mangle some metal!
Joran won't be able to participate in the carcassonne tournament anymore.
I had a chance to do a second playtest of The Thing at the recent ComicReaders staff party. With rules modified based on feedback from the 24 Hours to Play with Your Food playtest, The Thing played very well at the staff party. There was a lot of player interaction during the game, some fine deduction near the close, and some surprise turn of events, including a human player tossing the dynamite into a room and killing two other humans, and one human player shooting another in an attempt to even the odds between humans and Things. Unfortunately, the now deceased player was human (which wasn't revealed until after the game was over), and his untimely death was one final factors in the humans' demise. Victory to the Things. Woe to the rest of the world.
I look forward to sharing this game with the next batch of players at Prairie Game Expo.

Please add me to the Carcassone Tournament. Thanks!
Everything should be up to date now. If I missed anything let me know.
I will run Railways of the World: Railways Through Time at 6pm
6 players, 120 minutes.
Please sign me up for The Thing.
Unfortunately I'm gonna have to drop out of D & D expeditions. One of my soccer games got rescheduled for the same time.
Would there be any interest if I was to run any of the following:
(card game) Sentinels of the Multiverse
(boardgame) Sentinels Tactics <tournament style>
(rpg) Star Wars: Age of Rebellion
(rpg) Icons: The Assembled Edition
(boardgame) Formula D
I'd be interested in joining the Railways Through Time game.
Will there be a magic tournament or anything like that and is there any room left in the D and D games I would love to join one.

Dana can you sign me up for the 40k tournament?
Also it should be noted that the fantasy tournament isn't cause Don cannot run it. I haven't heard him announce this to everyone yet so I thought I would so people don't show up for nothing and so they can reschedule their lives.
That being said, why not have a few players from the Regina league get together for some fun games!!

Are Endtimes armylists and special characters allowed for the fantasy tournament? Might want to post some tournament guidelines?

Why wouldn't you do that? I asked if you would run the event, or at least make it a gamesday - and you agreed that you would. I then let Comic Readers know. You may put any rules or limitations you see fit for the event...true? It was also mentioned that you could just do a gamesday as you weren't certain of a tournament, and considering we weren't sure how many were showing, a gamesday was a better idea.
I may have to reread our PM's, but that's the understanding I had.

Lareina is taking it over. 8 people max. NAGASH standard army composition. 2000 points. Be nice and police yourself. :P
I didn't get Don's email because it went to Chad's account. All good.
It should also be noted that in the Endtimes Khaine book there is a new set of magic rules that expand on the old ones. I would love to use these rules but when I look at the armies that haven't benefited from the ET rulebooks yet I begin to wonder if they, or any of the ET special characters, armylists and rules should be allowed at this tournament. Just seems kinda unbalancing to me, and not everyone can afford the books and might not know what the new rules imply. So in other words, I'm both for it and against it and will leave it at that for further discussion.
I would like to register for the Warmahordes tournament please. Thank You. Chris Wagner.
I'm down for the 40k tournament if there is still a spot left.

Dana i would definitely be interested in Star Wars: Rebellion if you hosted it. Providing that newbs are welcomed to sign up? I'm an experienced RPG'er, but I've never played this system and want to try it. If not this venue - perhaps a Chewsday?
I would also like to try Star Wars age of rebellion too but before 430 because I got dnd at 430
Could you please sign me up for the Warmachine tournament, thank you.
For the Warhammer Fantasy tournament (or whatever it ends up being, possibly just a gamesday): While Nagash army composition is in effect, End Times armies are not allowed, so no combined Vampire Counts/Tomb Kings, no combined Elves, I haven't read enough of Blightkings to make a decision on that one.
Special announcement:(https://sask.games/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.cryptozoic.com%2Fsites%2Fall%2Fthemes%2Fcze%2Flogo.png&hash=d35c4e801807fb0e8357efa2a5cb0fea13a0f2a5)

As with every other hero, Starfire grants a special ability to the player, which in this case is: "Once during each of your turns, if there are no Super Powers in the Line-Up, draw a card."

So to put it simple, nothing but the Nagash army composition is allowed, I can't use Malekith the Eternity King as my general cause that is a special character from the Khaine book....got it.
Blight Kings aren't that crazy, they are basically non monstrous infantry Ogre/Chaos Warrior hybrids. Chaos Warriors might even be better than the for the points cost.

Take on the sinister Galactic Empire as a member of the Rebel Alliance. Wage guerilla warfare across the Star Wars galaxy as a solider, or provide crucial intelligence to the Rebels as a cunning spy. Face down legions of stormtroopers, steal secret plans and restricted codes, and stay on target in the fight against the ultimate power in the universe. No matter what role in the Rebellion you take, the fate of the galaxy rests in your hands.

I will run a couple of games.
A lively game of horse racing where players bet on several of seven horses to try to gain the most money by the end of the game.
A re-issue by Alea of Knizia's Turf Horse Racing published by Gibsons Games. This edition has better graphics and uses the same mechanism of 4 symbols on the horse cards also appearing on the die. Players roll the die and choose which horse you want to move from those not taken their turn yet. The seven horses vary in strength, but even the weakest horses have some amazing bursts of speed. Players bet on the horses before each race and so either co-operate or compete to get their horses over the line.

In the tile-laying game Castles of Mad King Ludwig, players are tasked with building an amazing, extravagant castle for King Ludwig II of Bavaria...one room at a time. You see, the King loves castles, having built Neuschwanstein (the castle that inspired the Disney theme park castles) and others, but now he's commissioned you to build the biggest, best castle ever — subject, of course, to his ever-changing whims. Each player acts as a building contractor who is adding rooms to the castle he's building while also selling his services to other players.

I was a little slow updating posts these last 2 days. I've put you on the "waitlist". Things come up for people so there are often dropouts. If we get more interest I am considering expanding the tournament to 20 people and have 5 people per table.
I've updated everyone's posts. Thanks everyone. Hope I didn't miss anyone!
I'd like to get up bright and early-like and do some farmin'! So I'll schedule Agricola for 9:30 (so that should leave plenty of time to get in on Carcassonne) and I'd like to get in on Castles at 7:00 please.
I'll play in the x-wing tournment.
Thanks,
Devin.
If the Dominant Species game is sure to end before 4 I would join in. Keep in mind I have to learn it however. If it is iffy, I would put my name in on the wait list for the Carcassonne tournament. Also, I would join in on Agricola at 9:30 if I can.

I don't think Ryan M and Barry have played DS before either. So considering it will be a 5-player game with 3 new players(if you join), I'd say finishing at 4pm would be iffy.

Is there a Pathfinder game or another Dungeons & Dragon's game happening?
That's it so far for D&D. I can place you on a waiting list if you like.
I would like that thank you and you can sign me up for the Starwars Age of Rebellion Roleplaying Game, please.
I can accomodate one more player at the table (if everyone is cool with it) just a matter of upping the difficulty of the various encounters a bit.
I would like to try evolution out. If anyone has it and wants to play it after the Carcassonne tourney that would be awesome.
Everything is updated.
Notes:
I've expanded the Carcassonne tournament to 20. 1 spot left. Jon, Miles & lifeofturner have been added. We will now be playing with The River expansion for additional tiles.
D&D: RockBane you're in!
Warhammer is now 2500 points
Roxy: I can bring Evolution. If we have an early exit from Carc I can teach it.
Please add Becky to Carcassone. Thanks!
Please add me to the dominant species game
Could I take the last spot for Dominant Species? Thanks!
Can u sign me up for Agricola and my friend as well this Wendy Johnson and Erin Roberts

Please Jamie. I'd really like to run a full tourney. Sign you up as well?
For the Warhammer tournament it might/should be noted that players should have a legible armylist with their magic lore clarified.

Hey Dana,
Sign me up for the DC tournament as well. I'll bring my DC stuff too.
Sweet.
I am going to host a game of Kemet at 3:30, two spots are open.
In Kemet, players each deploy the troops of an Egyptian tribe and use the mystical powers of the gods of ancient Egypt – along with their powerful armies – to score points in glorious battles or through invasion of rich territories. A game is typically played to 8 or 10 victory points, which may be accrued through winning attacks, controlling temples, controlling fully-developed pyramids, sacrificing to the gods, and wielding particular magical powers.
The conquest for the land of Kemet takes place over two phases: Day and Night. During the day, choose an action amongst the nine possible choices provided by your player mat and perform it immediately. Once every player has taken five actions, night falls, with players gathering Prayer Points from their temples, drawing Divine Intervention cards, and determining the turn order before the start of the new day.
As the game progresses, they can use Prayer Points to acquire power tiles. Some of these enroll magical creatures and have them join their troops. In addition to intimidating enemies, these creatures provide special powers!
Detailed miniature components represent the combat units and the supernatural creatures that are summoned to enhance them. Combat is resolved through cards chosen from a diminishing six-card hand and enhanced by bonuses.
GAME: Kemet

START TIME: 3:30
DURATION: 90 Minutes
PLAYERS 5
1. Dale thomson (thomsoda)
2. Braden
3. Kendal

I've taken you off. Hope things are well.
My apologies: I didn't realize that the Carcassonne tournament had been expanded to include another game, so I made other plans for that time and I will come later in the day to PGX. I do see that there is someone on the wait list, so enjoy! Sorry about the late notice.
Thanks for another fantastic event, Dana and Chad (and Murray working the canteen). I was only able to stay for one quick game of Dominant Species but had a great time.
What a terrific day at the Prairie Games Expo. I played my first tournament in Star wars x-Wing and was completely crushed. Totally schooled and ruined. lol. Learned a lot today and had fun - in a frustrated sort of way :D. Then afterwards i was introduced to a couple new games and really enjoyed them too. Cannot wait for the next Expo! Thanks Comic Readers for a great event!
Had lots of fun learning how to play Samurai, Star Wars: Age of Rebellion, and, creating my own and playing a D&D Next character. :D

Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make this event possible! My husband and I are veteran RPGers who recently moved to Moose Jaw from Winnipeg, and it was great to meet and play with the awesome group we had. We had a lot of fun, and hope to see you all again soon!
I am very pleased that the event so well. Special thanks to everyone who helped out when it became apparent I was unable to attend.
Terrific event! My first, and it won't be my last.
My only criticism, and it's minor: the music added to the general noise in the room and wasn't audible anyway until very late in the day - it's nice to have the amplification so that we can hear people making announcements, but perhaps we could forgo the music next time?
Thanks to all who organized it, and thanks to Kevin Scarth for a great game of 5th Ed D&D. We had a blast. (And Sizzlefoot may be a touch... sociable.)
Jim
I had a good time, looking forward to next one.
Thanks to Derek for putting on Xwing...again. lol and to Jem and Gloob for the games.
A thanks to Mike for trying to grow the Malifaux community, the league should be fun.
I was really impressed by some of the 40k tables, alot nicer then what I last played on lol.
Thanks to everyone else who helped out too, it was a nice event.
Next PGX is May 23rd! Mark it on your calenders!
