(http://cf.geekdo-images.com/images/pic1180640_md.jpg) | Descent: Journeys in the Dark (Second Edition) is a board game in which one player takes on the role of the treacherous overlord, and up to four other players take on the roles of courageous heroes. During each game, the heroes embark on quests and venture into dangerous caves, ancient ruins, dark dungeons, and cursed forests to battle monsters, earn riches, and attempt to stop the overlord from carrying out his vile plot. With danger lurking in every shadow, combat is a necessity. For such times, Descent: Journeys in the Dark (Second Edition) uses a unique dice-based system. Players build their dice pools according to their character's abilities and weapons, and each die in the pool contributes to an attack in different ways. Surges, special symbols that appear on most dice, also let you trigger special effects to make the most of your attacks. And with the horrors awaiting you beneath the surface, you'll need every advantage you can take... Featuring double-sided modular board pieces, countless hero and skill combinations, and an immersive story-driven campaign, Descent: Journeys in the Dark (Second Edition) transports heroes to a vibrant fantasy realm where they must stand together against an ancient evil. Descent: Journeys in the Dark will be played with no expansions. Supports 5 players. 120 minutes is the estimated duration. Game teacher Colin Dearborn has been a long-time supporter of gaming, with frequent appearances at Chewsday Challenge, FRAG, and other board gaming events and venues, including BGG Con in Dallas, Texas. |
(http://cf.geekdo-images.com/images/pic1430769_md.jpg) | Legendary: A Marvel Deck Building Game is set in the Marvel Comics universe. Over the course of the game, players will recruit powerful hero cards to add to their deck in order to build a stronger and more resourceful deck. As players fight and defeat villains, they collect those cards, which will be worth points at game's end. Players can also fight the mastermind; if a player has enough fighting power, he claims one of the attack cards beneath the mastermind, which has a particular effect on the game. If all of these cards are claimed, the game ends and players tally their points to see who wins. If the mastermind completes his scheme, however – having a certain number of villains escape, for example, or imposing a certain number of wounds on the heroes – then the players all lose. Legendary: A Marvel Deck-Building Game will be played with the Dark City and Fantastic Four expansions. Supports 5 players. 120 minutes is the estimated duration. You may reserve a spot for this game by responding in this discussion thread. |
(http://cf.geekdo-images.com/images/pic1176894.jpg) | The game is set in the Burgundy region of High Medieval France. Each player takes on the role of an aristocrat, originally controlling a small princedom. While playing they aim to build settlements and powerful castles, practice trade along the river, exploit silver mines, and use the knowledge of travelers. The game is about players taking settlement tiles from the game board and placing them into their princedom which is represented by the player board. Every tile has a function that starts when the tile is placed in the princedom. The princedom itself consists of several regions, each of which demands its own type of settlement tile. Castles of Burgundy supports 4 players. 120 minutes is the estimated duration. You may reserve a spot for this game by responding in this discussion thread. Game teacher omegadirective (Brandon) was having supper at Boston Pizza on north Albert Street when he noticed the board gamers at Chewsday Challenge. He stuck his head into the event, learn more about what was going on, and said he'd be back. Well, he came back, and then again, and again, again! |
(http://cf.geekdo-images.com/images/pic1805590_t.jpg) | Nation is a civilization style worker placement strategy card game. It takes place is a alternate earth based universe where bug aliens are the dominant species. Players, on their turn, use 1 of 4 actions per worker to develop their nation with the ultimate goal of competing for the most Victory Points. Players play their worker tokens onto a random map. The map starts out hidden and is revealed as players explore. For each worker token played a player may take 1 action: Build, Develop, Draw or Battle. Build action allows players to build populaces onto map cards. Develop action allow players to play cards from their hands that have unique attributes as well as provide food for more workers, building materials for populaces and military strength. Battle action allows players to take over populaces of other players. Draw actions allow players to draw more cards into their hand. Players continue taking turns until the draw deck depletes. Victory Points are counted based upon the number of civilians in play, populace control and military might. |
(http://cf.geekdo-images.com/images/pic1324609_md.jpg) | Android: Netrunner is an asymmetrical Living Card Game for two players. Set in the cyberpunk future of Android and Infiltration, the game pits a megacorporation and its massive resources against the subversive talents of lone runners. Corporations seek to score agendas by advancing them. Doing so takes time and credits. To buy the time and earn the credits they need, they must secure their servers and data forts with "ice". These security programs come in different varieties, from simple barriers, to code gates and aggressive sentries. They serve as the corporation's virtual eyes, ears, and machine guns on the sprawling information superhighways of the network. In turn, runners need to spend their time and credits acquiring a sufficient wealth of resources, purchasing the necessary hardware, and developing suitably powerful ice-breaker programs to hack past corporate security measures. Their jobs are always a little desperate, driven by tight timelines, and shrouded in mystery. When a runner jacks-in and starts a run at a corporate server, he risks having his best programs trashed or being caught by a trace program and left vulnerable to corporate countermeasures. It's not uncommon for an unprepared runner to fail to bypass a nasty sentry and suffer massive brain damage as a result. Even if a runner gets through a data fort's defenses, there's no telling what it holds. Sometimes, the runner finds something of value. Sometimes, the best he can do is work to trash whatever the corporation was developing. The first player to seven points wins the game, but not likely before he suffers some brain damage or bad publicity. Android: Netrunner players Rachel and Tom are willing to teach new players. They will be at Prairie Game Expo at 11am. Respond to this post to book your session with Tom and Rachel. Or, if you're a player already, challenge them to a game! |
Tom and I are coming and bringing Android: Netrunner. Both of us are willing to teach the game to anyone who is interested. We'll be bringing six decks for people to play with, so we can have up to three games going at once. We'll be there at 11am. First games will probably run 45 minutes and then as low as 20 minutes once people know the rules.

All players build their team using a pre-determined method, whether a point system, draft, or at random. Equip your team with spells, weapons and other items adapted to their requirements, then utilize their various talents and abilities to create a powerful fighting force. Every figure has a point value attached to it to help balance things out. Only those who are able to create a strong, yet versatile, strategy will prevail! |
(http://www.coolminiornot.com/shop/media/catalog/product/s/d/sde_boxtop.jpg) | Super Dungeon Explore is a dungeon crawler inspired by old Japanese console RPGs. The 52 included miniatures are done in a cute / chibi / super-deformed style. Players take the role of classic fantasy heroes like the human paladin, a dwarf fighter, or an elf ranger. One player is the "Dark Consul" who controls the monsters of the dungeon. Every hero/monster has a character card that details the stats for movement, attack, armor, willpower, dexterity, action points and hearts . Additional information may include special abilities / actions / attacks and potions. The game is played on modular dungeon boards. During a round of play, the game passes back and forth between single heroes and the monsters, but the exact order may change from round to round. The characters use the stats from their character card, special dice (with hearts, potions and stars) are only used for combat and checks. If the heroes wound the opponent, they may draw loot cards to improve their stats. There is also the possibility to open treasure chests to find even more powerful things. The monsters have no possibility to "level up" apart from a single late game upgrade but the Dark Consul has an unlimited number of them. To win the game, either the Dark Consul must defeat all heroes in his dungeon or the Heroes must spawn the boss by killing monsters or destroying all spawning points, and then must then kill the dungeon boss to be victorious. |
It would be nice day of to have a list posted somewhere in the building of all the games pre-planned sorted by time, so you can check to see whatever is going to be happening, should you be looking.

(http://cf.geekdo-images.com/images/pic1555851_md.jpg) | In the worker-placement style game What's He Building in There?, players use their Doctors and three henchmen to acquire resources at the available shops, acquire gold, visit the black markets, provide the "Genius at Work" labor (GAW), provide "Manual Labor" (ML), improve the Doctor's social standing, and invent things. You must complete both a Doomsday Machine and an Escape Plan, with higher level Doomsday Machines and Escape Plans garnering more victory points, and you need to do it quickly. Scotland Yard is getting suspicious, after all, so you have to do what you need to do in 15 turns. Players can earn additional victory points for fitting in with society, eccentricity, security and inventions. This game will be taught by qwijybo, an attendee and Ambassador at Chewsday Challenge. |

Wondering on the points etc for the warhammer 40k? Who is running things? Also, I noticed no warhammer fantsy. I'll be happy to step up and run a tourney for that either before or after the 40k

(http://cf.geekdo-images.com/images/pic182903_md.jpg) | THE COWBOYS is a game of the Old West. Players shoot it out in 10 - 60+ minutes. The game features stand-up Cowboy Counters artistically designed with full color artwork by Gary S. Zaboly. There are 26 Historical and Hollywood style scenarios in the game. Six double-sided geomorphic map boards create the battlegrounds of the Old West. The game rules allow you to pick up and play the game in minutes. The optional rules add chrome but still keeps the game very playable. The "Old West" personalities are there; Wyatt, Doc, Jesse, Billy, and many other legends of the Wild West. Some of the variables include townsfolk, horses, etc. Bank robberies, cattle rustling, stagecoach holdups, jail breaks, lynch mobs, and many other western actions are depicted. It pits opposing sides against each other, bringing to life the daring and dastardly deeds of heroes and villains when the way of the gun ruled the day. Included are the lawmen, gunfighters, gamblers, and ne'er do wells who knew how to handle themselves during a gunfight. Also the town folk will show up to add a much needed gun to the fight. Chad Boudreau will run Cowboys with modified advanced rules. He is developing a set of rules for a miniatures game set in the Old West. Those rules are a combination of Cowboys' advanced rules, and some of the rules he likes from Warhammer Historical Old West rules. This new rule-set adds new thematic and strategic elements to Cowboys. But don't let the term "advanced" scare you away! This version of Cowboys still plays fast and furious with plenty of tension. Depending on interest, Chad will run multiple scenarios. |
We'd be happy to have you, sleepydragon. We'll set you up a table, just let us know when you would like to run your play testing and how many people can play.
- Special Force Organization Chart in effect:
- HQ (including units under the HQ heading that do not count toward a force organization slot)
I'd like to sign up for the 40k tournament.
Also does Lareina's correction mean that no HQ choices may be taken?
Could you sign me up for castles of burgundy.
I'm bringing Mage Wars. Anyone else in for that?
I'd like to sign up for the 40K tourney.
My son is going to be in Regina for the weekend and would like to play marvel legendary, Please add Kenzie Haubrich to the last slot, thanks
I've got some WARMAHORDES droogs of mine coming out. We're gonna rock out some mangled metal. And if you want to take a look and see what it's all about, we're a friendly lot.
I am going to arrive as early as I can manage, probably no earlier than 10am though. Mage Wars takes a very variable amount of time, so it's hard to say when we would start or stop, though I would like to start around 11 or noon.

I will be there as close to 9am as possible and will be bringing the following games to share:
I'd like to join the Smallworld tourney if it's still on.
Can you sign me up for Android: Netrunner at 11:00, please?
I'll be joining the netrunner crowd at 11:00AM, I know both the game and Tom/Rachel. If anyone would like me to bring any games I own (sig), just let me know.
I've made a decision to move our Warhammer Fantasy crew to the expo event. If we could find room for another 6-8 guys that would be awesome.
I'm not sure if this sort of thing is allowed at the expo, but I thought I'd ask. I bought Combat Commander - Pacific a few months after reading a lot of good reviews. However, I just haven't been able to get into and can't help but feel that I haven't interpreted the rules correctly.:thumb-up
If someone has a little time to teach me the game tomorrow, and maybe play out a short scenario, I'd be very grateful. Let me know and ill bring my copy along. Thanks in advance!
Everyone is added now! New games scheduled!

Not only is it allowed, but encouraged. Bring it out! I cannot help you out, but I am sure someone might be able to.
We have 1 less copy of Small World then we thought. Any chance someone could bring a copy of Small World that we could use in the Small World tournament? Please post if you can. That's including my copy?
That's including my copy?
PS: Ryan N
I will bring out Lords of Scotland if you want another play.
Sleepy Dragon-- I think we're good. I've got an Underground at home we can use.
regarding the canteen, and foodstuffs - can we bring our own food in, or is there a "no outside food/drink policy" like at fragcon?
I don't think underground will work since the map, races and powers are all different and you can actually score a bit higher in that one.
I know there are lots of games to sign up for, just wanted to let people know that I will be out with my daughter Amanda (11 years old) and we will be set up somewhere playing games all day.
I've made a decision to move our Warhammer Fantasy crew to the expo event. If we could find room for another 6-8 guys that would be awesome.I will be there too!

How many approximately in your group, Robert?
Also, let everyone know there is food services at Prairie Game Expo. Hot and cold meals, hot and cold beverages. CASH ONLY.
Food services provided by Food for Learning-- a charitable organization. The money goes toward their community programs. (See previous posts in this forum for more information, including full menu.)
With the spot open I would like to participate in the 40K event. But quick question that are not addressed, Do models have to be painted and is there any restrictions to vehicles and multi-wound models that are not currently listed? Also sign me up for X-wing! I may have 2 other friends who plan on joining in as well.
