Title: Introducing myself and my games
Post by: AllanDotson on June 28, 2013, 11:37:54 AM
Hello!  I am a game designer and independent publisher in Regina.  I make board games, card games, and role-playing games, some of which I have run at FRAGCon.  Three of my games are now available as PDFs from DriveThruRPG.com http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/index.php?manufacturers_id=4080 (http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/index.php?manufacturers_id=4080).

Spectrum is a time travel role-playing game.  My goal was to make a simple basic system, to allow the players and Guide to focus on all the complexities of really detailed time-travel.  This is an intense head-trip for serious gamers and hard-sci-fi fans.  There is also a free demo module available.

Fingerprints is a story-game of post-modern superheroes.   It's rules-light, and uses a weird dice mechanic where you roll dice onto your character sheet, and use whatever word your die lands on in your narration.

Monster Box is a free short rpg of kids with pet monsters.  Please download it, read it, play it, and let me know what you think!

I also teach game design classes for kids (9-14) at the Neil Balkwill Civic Arts Centre in Regina.  http://www.regina.ca/residents/recreation/recreation-facilities/arts-centre/ (http://www.regina.ca/residents/recreation/recreation-facilities/arts-centre/)

If you're interested in finding out more about my games or classes, you can check out my website https://sites.google.com/site/maycontainmonkeys/ (https://sites.google.com/site/maycontainmonkeys/), my Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/pages/May-Contain-Monkeys/200800523312727 (https://www.facebook.com/pages/May-Contain-Monkeys/200800523312727) or my G+ (https://plus.google.com/u/0/102948091324311449651/posts?_ga=1.29157499.698921688.1441919157).  I'm glad to learn about the SaskGames community, and I will be posting more of my games, classes, and events here as well!

Are softcover copies of Spectrum available in any stores in the province?  I would like to buy a copy, but am not keen to pay shipping if I don't have to.

Unfortunately not.  Where are you at?  If you're in Regina, I could arrange to sell you a copy in person.  If you're in Saskatoon, I'll be up there on the 19th for the Entertainment Expo.

Thanks for your interest in Spectrum!
