Open Gaming @ The Spot

Description

In June, The Spot is available for open gaming on:

The Spot is a community inspired room located in The Southland Mall. On most Sundays, The Spot is available for board gaming and other gaming from 12pm to 5pm. There is a small library of board games that can be used. You are welcome to bring your own games.

There is also space for miniatures games and on most Sundays The Pegagus Gulf gaming group makes use of some of the space for games like Warhammer 40K, Warhammer, Warcry, etc.

THE SPOT @ SOUTHLAND MALL INFORMATION

Description
The Spot at Southland Mall is a community inspired room available to organizations interested in hosting activities, workshops, group classes and more. Non-profit and charitable organizations can also utilize the space for fundraising initiatives at no cost to their organization. With The Spot's community-inspired room, the possibilities are endless. The space can be customized to host a wide range of events.

The Spot is available most Sundays from 12pm to 5pm for board gaming. The Spot is also used on most Sundays by The Pegagus Gulf, a group of wargaming enthusiasts who host Warhammer 40K, Kill Team, Age of Sigmar, Warcry, and other miniatures-based gaming.

Frequently Asked Questions

(1) What types of games are played at The Spot?
A variety of board games and miniatures games are played. Limited only by table space and time. Designer board games, wargames, strategy games, and card games are just some of the types you might see at The Spot.  When planning your day of gaming there are a few things to consider:
      (a) Mature Subject Matter
            The Spot is a family friendly place. Games that might offend (ex. Cards Against Humanity, Trial by Trolley, etc) are not suitable.
      (b) Table Space
            Please be considerate when choosing your table area.
      (c) Time
            The Spot closes at 5pm so plan your time accordingly. You want to be able to finish your game, pack up, and leave by 5pm.

(2) Who should make use of The Spot for gaming?
You should attend if you enjoy playing games and enjoy the social interaction of the hobby. The space is used by experienced players, casual players, and people new to the hobby. The number of people and the types of games being played will vary.

(3) Does it cost anything to use the space on Sunday?
There is no entry fee or cost to use The Spot for gaming on Sunday when the space is available.
The Pegagus Gulf gaming group does have terrain that can be rented for miniatures games like Warhammer, Warhammer 40K, Warcry, etc. Prices and payment are available at The Spot on Sundays.

(4) Is there scheduled gaming?
Usually no. This is a drop-in location.
That said, sometimes there will be scheduled gaming hosted by The Pegasus Gulf or other gaming groups. Those will be posted in this forum for The Spot.

(5) Are there board games available to borrow?
Yes, there is a small library of board games that can be used at The Spot. These are not to be removed from The Spot.
You are welcome to bring your own board games, too.

Warhammer Kill Team: The June Rumble

Description
Members of the Warhammer Kill Team community are hosting a 2-day competitive event at Mr. D's Stats Cocktails & Dreams.  This will be a competitive event with some serious dice-rolling. It will consist of a 4 round day 1 qualifier (June 17) and a day 2 (June 18) top 8 that will consist of 3 rounds to determine a winner.

Thgere is a $25 entry fee.

Newer players are more then welcome to participate.

On day 2 (June 18), we will open up the extra boards to the public so if you are simply wanting to come out to play you most definitely can. Just be advised to respect the top 8 contenders and their matches if you are not participating in the actual tournament.

Registration is required in advance of the tournament. The sign-up form and more information about the even, including how to pay the registration fee, can be found at the Kill Team June Rumble event page.

Each event is limited to 24 people.

ComicReaders Downtown will be hosting two Dragon Ball Super Card Game tournaments this month.
ComicReaders Downtown currently only qualifies to run one official tournament as detailed by Bandai. So we are running one official tournament and one unofficial tournament. Each event is a constructed event, meaning players bring their own tournament legal decks. Starting in July 2023, we'll be able to run two official events.

Each event is limited to 20 people.

One Piece Trading Card Game Schedule For June 2023

ComicReaders Downtown will be hosting three One Piece Trading Card Game tournaments this month.
ComicReaders Downtown currently only qualifies for one official event, so we'll be running one official event and one unofficial event. (In July 2023, we'll be able to run two official events.) Our third event will be a Pre-release event. Please note if the pre-release product does not arrive in time for the event we will run an unofficial constructed event.
The official and unofficial events are a constructed event, meaning players bring their own tournament legal decks.
People wishing to try or learn about the game are also welcome to attend, but will need to pay the $5 table fee.
We don't yet know the price of the Pre-release event.

March of the Machine Sealed Store Championship
We're trying something different this time around and are going to be running this one as a Sealed Deck format. Sealed Deck is a Limited format which was requested for this event. Participating players each receive the same amount of unopened products, in this case six booster packs of March of the Machine, then construct their decks from only those cards and basic lands. All players in the Store Championship will receive a "Strangle" promo, top 8 will receive a foil "Aether Channeler" promo and first place will receive a Full-art foil "Thalia and The Gitrog Monster" promo.
